President's Message
Welcome to the ever-changing website for the Greater Chicago Chapter of ALA. Ever-changing because we keep finding ways to make it better! I am very glad you’ve come to visit and hope you will make this website one of your favorite places. You will find that it is filled with information about all the great things ALA and the Greater Chicago Chapter offers its members, business partners and guests. You are just a few clicks away from everything you need to know, but were afraid to ask. (Okay, I know I just dated myself with that one.) But seriously folks, the theme for this year’s Board is “Staying in Touch” and I hope you will use this website to do just that. Stay in touch with your fellow administrators, our sponsors and business partners and the Board. Don’t miss a single thing – it’s going to be a great year full of education and fun.
Under the Leadership section, you will find our current Board. They are all very excited about the year ahead and look forward to serving the Chapter. If you would like to learn more about how we do what we do, call a Board member and join a committee. There are lots of ways you can help the Chapter grow.
The Professional Development Director and Advisors are planning a year of amazing educational events – brown bags and bi-monthly luncheons. ALA’s webinars are hosted by our members and paid for by the Chapter. There are monthly meetings for small, mid-size and large firm administrators also hosted by our members. Social events, networking, Community Challenge – there is no end to the opportunities offered here. Check the calendar often so you don’t miss out on anything. The best is that you can RSVP to most events right here on the website.
Take time to visit the Business Partner Section, whether you are a member looking for a supplier or service provider, or a potential sponsor. Everything you need to know is right at your fingertips. And if you call on one of our sponsors, be sure to thank them for their support. Without them, we couldn’t do the things we do.
Be sure to mark your calendars for the Region 3 Conference & Expo to be held right here in Chicago on October 14, 15 & 16, 2010. It is going to be fabulous – great speakers, networking & social opportunities – all at The Drake Hotel. Perhaps you can help with my personal goal to have 50% of our membership in attendance at this conference. We have several committees assisting in planning this event. Join one of them – it is very rewarding and you’ll meet the nicest people!
As President of the Greater Chicago Chapter, I welcome you to the 2010/2011 Board Year. I challenge each of you to make time to attend some of our events and convince another member to go with you.
